Backcover synopsis:
Elizabeth Ault. Strong-willed and ambitious, she is Cincinnati’s top newspaper reporter. Tireless when it comes to investigating an important story, Elizabeth has a reputation for being first on the scene and getting her scoop—no matter what it takes.
Frank Ault. A tough-as-nails, no-nonsense homicide detective for the Cincinnati police. Frank is equally adept at using his brains or his fists to solve a case. Sometimes his biggest challenge is dealing with a snoopy reporter—his wife, Elizabeth.
Anne Brown. A shadowy figure and suspect in a homicide, both Frank and Elizabeth pursue Brown—for very different reasons.
The year is 1943. Amidst the backdrop of the Second World War, a shocking crime becomes the talk of the town in Cincinnati, Ohio. Homicide detective Frank Ault hunts the elusive suspect, Anne Brown. His wife, Cincinnati Observer reporter Elizabeth Ault, races her husband to find Brown first, causing friction between husband and wife. But this time Elizabeth plays with fire. Little does Elizabeth know she will quickly be transformed from pursuer to prey, and that events will take place that change the lives of the Aults forever.
comments about Blood of the Reich:
“Blood of the Reich by Mike Whicker contains more twists and turns than a shelf-full of thrillers. Every time we think we know what will come next, Whicker proves us wrong. This author’s reputation is growing worldwide; he is a master of the cliffhanger.”
— Ron Lennox, editor (ret.), Red River Literary Review
**********************
“Mike Whicker’s mesmerizing mystery of Lorelei returns in Blood of the Reich. After a decade of research since Invitation to Valhalla, Whicker again blends reality and imagination into a captivating tale of action, intrigue and compassion; which, in deference to historical facts, remains open to this day.”
– Dr. Rodney G. Tomlinson, Professor, U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis

“I must admit I had my doubts that Whicker could deliver another thriller the equal of Invitation to Valhalla. More often than not, sequels, whether books or films, prove disappointing. Seldom does a sequel match the original in quality, and to surpass it is rare indeed. Blood of the Reich does just that. Here is another offering from Whicker you will wish continued on for many more chapters. How I envy those who have yet to read it.”

It’s because of Mike’s ‘Invitation to Valhalla’ that I’ve developed a huge interest in WW2. It was one of the best books I’ve ever read. ‘Blood of the Reich’ will be just as exciting and readable. I can hardly wait to get my hands on it!

I developed such an interest in WWII after reading “Invitation to Valhalla”. I passed the book onto many family members with high praises. I read the book several times so as not to miss any minute details. I knew those characters like the back of my hand! Looking forward to reading “Blood of the Reich” and getting involved with those characters too!

If your new book is anything like “Invitation”, and “Proper Suda”, I can’t wait to read it. ” Invitation to Valhalla” left me with so many questions that I tried exploring the internet but came up blank. So you can imagine how excited I was to hear you are writing a sequel. Please let me know when it comes out in print!

I cannot wait for this one ! I have known and experienced so many of the places and venues from the “invitation” book. And have passed along my “excited” recommendation to many friends and family about that story. I have also enjoyed “meeting” Mike via email since I read that book, and lookforward to meeting him in person on a return trip to Evansville.

I can’t wait for the new book. I loved Vahalla so much I’ve read it three times. I spent almost 4 years on an LST during Viet Nam and never knew the history. Thanks so much, Mike for Valhalla and I’m sure I’ll love Blood of the Reich. I’m proud to call you my friend.
